Dr Khayaat Fakier

Khayaat Fakier has been conducting field work in Emnambithi in KwaZulu-Natal, investigating the impact of work restructuring and the changing patterns of migration on households. She is currently involved in a multi-country study including Brazil, India, China, Argentina and Vietnam on examining the prospects of social and economic upgrading of global production networks. She is working, with Eddie Webster, on a project investigating Work, Livelihood Strategies and Economic Security in the 21st Century, in collaboration with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai. This project is funded by the International Centre for Development and Decent Work (ICDD), University of Kassel.
