Chapter published in Munck, R. (ed.). Labour and Globalisation: Results and Prospects. Liverpool: Liverpool University Press. This chapter looks at the history of South African labour movement's involvement in international solidarity. It argues that the South African labour movement was able to draw on global solidarity in its campaigns while avoiding being drawn into the Cold War politics of the previous century. With the end of apartheid, and because of this experience, it became a key player in reconstituting labour's approach to global solidarity. The book can be ordered online.
