Labour, Liberation And Development

Dr Buhlungu spent 5 months at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst on a writing fellowship awarded by the Five College African Scholars Program in 2005. He used the fellowship to prepare a book manuscript which examines the theme of Labour, Liberation and Development and which is provisionally titled, Fruits of their Labour: Unions and the democratic transformation in South Africa, 1973 - 2000. The manuscript is based on his PhD but also draws on material from other SWOP research projects he has participated in since 1994. The book will be co-published by the University of KwaZulu-Natal Press and an international publisher.
